My solar gate doesn't work in the morning

Do you find first thing in the morning that your gate doesn't work but starts working as the day goes on?

If this is you, then try replacing the main battery inside the unit. When a battery is dying or on its way out, you will find that it can't hold its charge over night and will fail first thing in the morning. Then as the sun hits the solar panel during the day it starts to charge up again and will work later in the day for you. When the sun moves off the solar panel, the battery will start to deplete and not hold its charge over night (as a battery should). The next morning you will find that your gate will not work again.

Either try a new battery or use another one you may have on hand.

We don't recommend using anything less than a 12v 9ah battery on a solar system and if you are located in the southern states then we highly recommend a 12v 12ah battery.

Solar gate doesn't work in the morning but works later in the day

Generally if your battery isn't working first thing in the morning but works later in the day when the sun is on your solar panel then you will most likely require a new battery

  • Try charging your battery
  • If your battery is 3 years or older replace it
  • If you have a multimeter, you can test the battery under load while trying to operate the gate - the battery should remain above 12volts while the motor is operating
  • Under load check your solar regulator battery lights to see if they are mostly solid. If they drop to one or it starts flickering then replace or charge your battery depending on its age
I have an electric kit and it has stopped working

The Ultima RT and HT motors are a battery driven motor and requires the battery to operate even though it's an electric unit

  • Check your power point where the transformer is plugged in
  • Check your transformer with a multimeter at the control board and you should be getting between 15v - 19v AC
  • Check your fuse
  • Check battery voltage with a multimeter - battery should be over 12volts
  • If battery is reading over 12volts test the battery under load to see if the voltage holds
How do I check if my motor is working
Disengage the motor so the gate moves manually, then remove the motor cables (blue and black cable) from the main control board. Put the cables direct to the battery to test the motor.
My visitor push button has stopped working (remotes still work)

We have hard wired and wireless push buttons so we will try to cover both here

Hard Wired Button

  • Check for insect infestation in your push button housing
  • Check cabling by removing the cable from the push button and tapping them together - this should activate the gate. Re wire to the push button and see if it works.
  • Try contact spray or WD40 on the internal connectors and see if this helps
  • If the above help doesn't reslove the issue you will need a new push button.

Wireless Button

  • Do you have insect infestation (past or present) in your push button housing? If yes, then you will require a new push button.
  • If you press the small green knob inside the push button, does the internal orange light show on the small remote board? If yes you can try re tuning your button to your device in case it has dropped out. If no, try pressing the small white button on the remote board, now does the orange light come on? if yes, try re wiring the internal PCB to the button incase it doesn't have a good connection. If no, try replacing the internal battery. If you replace the internal battery and still no orange light shows, you will need a new push button.
  • Your push button may be tuned to a separate receiver which you will need to check - if there is no separate receiver then your button will be tuned direct to the main control board of the motor.
  • If you have a separate receiver, do you have the KP receiver? see troubleshooting for this receiver below.

Troubleshooting the KP Receiver

  • Locate the KP receiver inside the main control box and check that there are not ants inside the receiver box
  • Easiest way to check if your KP receiver is working is by tuning in a spare button on your TMT remote - view our support page for help with tuning remote to KP Receiver
  • If you tune your remote and the receiver works, try tuning your push button back in, just in case it has dropped out - you'll find tuning instructions on our support page
  • If you tune your remote and the receiver still doesn't work, continue with the following troubleshooting
  • Check the KP receiver is getting power. Best way is with a multimeter and making sure you are getting correct voltage to the receiver which should be a little higher than 12volts DC
  • When you press the visitor button you should hear a click sound from the receiver saying it is receiving the signal
  • If the receiver has correct power you can test the NO and COM cables from the receiver by tapping them together which should activate the gate - if the gate activates then you cabling is good
  • Please contact the office and speak with our technician if the above troubleshooting doesn't help
One of my remotes has stopped working
  • Try replacing the battery
  • If you replace the battery and it still doesn't work, try re tuning the remote to the device to see if the remote has dropped out
  • Try tuning in another button on the remote that is free
  • If the above solutions don't work you will need a new remote
My gate keeps jumping at the end stops
Make sure no teeth have been worn down on the racking. Try adjusting your racking for the 2-3mm gap required between the cog and racking.
My gate keeps stopping in the same spot while trying to operate

If this happens your racking will most likely need adjusting. The racking has probably dropped onto the cog of the motor too much and doesn't have the required 2-3mm gap needed.

Make sure your gate track is kept clear of any debris

My gate closes and repoens after 40 seconds
You activated Demo mode. Go to the main control board and look for the 'General Settings' icon (hammer and spanner). Now go to the 'DEMO' icon and say NO
